“At the American School of Bombay (ASB), we wanted Science in our elementary school to be fun, engaging, provocative, and we wanted to see and feel (and smell) it everywhere. We wanted our students and their parents to think of ASB as the most important place on the planet when it came to scientific inquiry and exploration. We wanted all of this and more for our school several years ago. It wasn’t until we found Robert Zook, and turned over this dream to him, that it actually happened. Robert made all of the above and more a reality at ASB. He changed the culture of science and learning at our school and he’s built a legacy.”
Craig Alan Johnson

"Robert Zook is a teacher that students will remember for the rest of their lives. He is one of those rare individuals who is able to create content that students enjoy so much they often don’t realize they are learning. He is a revolutionary Teacher who challenges conventional teaching: he changes the paradigm. My daughter has had the pleasure of benefiting from his knowledge and humour; she is a fan for life."

"I have had the privilege of working alongside Robert in two ways, as a classroom teacher teammate & a science specialist. I’ve also been able to see him in action as a parent as my daughter is four and enjoys his science provocations.
In all these roles, Robert shows intent and creativity to inspire our students of all ages to be curious, make prediction, find joy and enjoy science. He excels at leading students to ponder and think for themselves as well as affirm their process and effort. His science and general education knowledge is vast and his pedagogy is strong. He is considerate of kids and their feelings and interest while also using humour to connect.
I would highly encourage a school to hire him and would work with him again in a heartbeat."

"Robert espouses the idea of "hard fun" as ASB elementary school children and parents play and explore science, technology, engineering, art and math. For the past 3 years, Robert has led the STEAM Maker Saturday sessions at ASB for parents and their children to work together, meet challenges and solve problems while exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Robert has first of all explored programming and coding as a teacher, and then later led Coding Mornings for students at ASB from KG to Grade 5. Robert integrated coding into maths and science lessons as well as Units of Inquiry throughout the elementary school.
I worked with Robert to explore various robots such as Dot and Dash, Sphero, Roamers and BeeBots to support students developing computational thinking skills."

"It has been an absolute privilege and honor working with a colleague like Robert. With his affable and compassionate personality, Robert has led the way for students, staff and parents to work collaboratively. Innovative science projects, maker, coding, STEAM, community service etc have pioneered at The American School of Bombay only because of the astute leadership and his passion for remaining current and futuristic. Although it is great loss to our school and community, we wish Robert all the very best in his new venture. He will spread the light with a halo wherever he is.
