Growing a Joyful STEM Presence Throughout Leaning Communities
STEAM Maker Saturdays
This video highlights the joyful results of my collaboration with our school's teachers, students, staff, parents, local artists and scientists to design and lead monthly STEAM Maker Saturdays at the American School of Bombay. These events bring together over 200 students, parents, and teachers to engage in "hard fun" as they explore STEAM concepts, cultivate growth mindsets, and discover new passions.
STEAM Maker Saturdays play a pivotal role in cultivating the joyful presence of STEAM in our learning community, fostering 21st-century skills, and helping participants move from consumers to creators. Perhaps the greatest benefit is the way these events unite our community—students, families, teachers, and staff joyfully connect, co-create, co-learn, and explore new and exciting ways of being, together - What school should be.

I’m passionate about promoting cross-curricular integration of science and have had the privilege of leading workshops for educators globally, as well as presenting at major conferences.
This video captures a workshop I led for parents, aimed at deepening their understanding of divergent thinking and empowering their young scientists through inquiry-based learning. I believe it’s essential to include parents as active participants in the scientific process when cultivating a joyful science culture within the learning community. By engaging parents in joyful inquiries, we create a more cohesive and supportive environment for students to thrive as curious, capable scientists. |

I am passionate about demonstrating how Maker-centered approaches empower children to shift from being "consumers to producers." I've had the privilege of leading Maker workshops for educators across the globe and volunteering as a consultant for NGOs throughout India.
In my chapter titled "Maker in the Classroom" in the book Maker Minds, I showcase how to integrate Maker approaches into learning in transdisciplinary ways, highlighting the power of hands-on, creative problem-solving to inspire deeper, more connected learning experiences.
